Underlying the continued development of lighting and materials was a brief I gave myself to create a series that could form the basis of a variable typeface. Introducing Offset. Productive Motion is used to convey precision and confidence and is primarily used for product viz and quick in brand moments. Expressive Motion allows more character as time unfolds. They can and keg condition beers with a focus on more labor intensive processes that most modern breweries tend to abandon. Because they are doing things a little differently they wanted the brand to stand out amongst the indie beer scene with a bold, modern and minimal approach. Inspiration is taken from Slow Lane’s location in Botany and the surrounding area. The core shapes of the brand are derived from the architecture found in satellite photography of nearby Port Botany, a large shipping port. The core shapes come together in a master brand pattern that nods to their process of only using essential ingredients, which are listed on every can. The main touch point of the brand is packaging and labels. Slow Lane has a new releases every few weeks, so the challenge was to support a constant demand of difference whilst maintaining unity. To do this clear typography, the master brand pattern and a feature colour come together as the main ingredients for every new beer. To achieve motion without keyframing I adopted a few different techniques. The most effective was applying noise shaders to drive specific parameters of the contraptions I had made. These shaders were then animated through speed and even looped in some cases for seamless transitions. Adjusting the noise type, scale and speed created a range of motion and stacking the noise effectors added detail and unexpected results. The illusion of movement was achieved by attaching the camera to the subject and animating the background elements in the scene. As a network it brings together some of our most favorite storylines and characters. Our challenge was to bring back the old TV Land attitude through a modern lens. The underlying theme of the rebrand was ‘All in the mix’; a fun and inclusive system that is in-the-know for tv fans.
